Wiki Basics

Heyho!

In case anyone has never used a wiki (I doubt it), some very basic basics:

  • Everyone can edit all pages
  • Use the Talk pages to discuss the article pages
  • Make an account and sign your talk page entries with ~~~~
  • Grasp the basics of wiki code by looking what others do ;-)
  • Ask me or anyone if you want to know anything. Chances are, someone will be able to answer. --Xeeron 00:45, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Lets not copy GWW/guildwiki

Just a small note: Copying over articles like Warrior is pretty redundant, since we can simply link them from here (warrior) and not have to worry about updating them. Lets try to limit our content to that which is SF specific (e.g. about our guild, our builds, our PvP help, etc). Will keep us lean and the work down.

Of course, if you need any technical stuff from GWW (e.g. templates) be sure to steal them, we got a compatible licence =) --Xeeron 00:45, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Main page layout

Check the main page history for some layout ideas I played around with. --Xeeron 15:57, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

GWBB Code

I've installed it and appears to be working as intended. I've posted up Chaos Split as a test to demonstrate. RomBurns 23:23, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Great work. That makes posting builds and such much easier (and we dont have to bother with coding a solution hehe). --Xeeron 14:34, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately I've had to disable as it seemed to be causing a problem with the upload script. Looking at workarounds now. RomBurns 19:18, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Can't we put something in like pvxwiki has ? Ideally, we would be re-using their skill database, so we would not have to constantly maintain that after each game update. Hoschi 11:48, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

They pretty much have everything on lock as far as their coding and content is concerned, I think the only way to get ahold of any of that type of stuff is to put on some velvet kneepads and beg for their information. Jedbacca 22:27, 7 September 2008 (UTC)Jedbacca

Uhm, i'm not a fan of groveling at all. What exactly was the problem with the gwBBCode ? Since i'm a software developer, i might be able to help a bit and work on that, in case we're having a securitiy / other problems there Hoschi 14:26, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Category Tree

I created a Category:Root as basis for all categories. Currently we have 4 sub branches in there: Strike Force (for guild organisation, etc), Games, Users (wiki users) and Templates (for the wiki templates we use). Of course individual articles can be in more than one branch (e.g. GW GM is in both Strike Force and Games for being related to guild organisation and a game). If you create a new category, but attach it somewhere in those branches or directly at root. --Xeeron 12:39, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
