Lesson 1 - Positions

As I see it, gotta get your basics down first. The question on every GvG'ers mind every day when they go in with their team and gather on vent blah blah blah is, "What are we going to be running today?" Without going in to detail and fully breaking things down, let's have a look at what the general gist behind your build is going to be by first identifying the football roster on how the mechanic for 8v8 play is.

Frontline - Non-squishy targets such as Warriors and Dervishes. Midline - Ele, Mesmer, Necro, Smite Monks, Ritualists, Paragons, Rangers Backline - Monks, and any primary healing positions

In the majority of your builds that you will face or even make, will contain a front mid and back line. Why is it called that? Positioning! Non-squishies are your meat that pose as your bullguard defense, and meaty offense, generally also called your tanks, they are usually out front. Your offensive defense, defense, or I would like to almost put it in a castle defense, bowman defense..I'll explain this in a minute. Then your backline, which heals you.

In a castle at the front gates, what do you have right behind it when it gets penetrated? Warriors - Frontline. What do you have right behind them that can't take as much damage as the bulky strong warriors that don't wear as heavy armor? Casters and archers *archers also would go up on walls to...* Then, your backline, the cleric/monk classes that try to aide everyone and keep the team alive and going, your lifeline support!

On the main battle ground you have the same aspect. In short, watch any medieval movie with a bunch of war scenes. If you haven't already, then you're probably gaming w/the wrong crowd and you should uninstall GW and go back to playing with your sisters Barbie dolls.

That's a small snippet of positions. We'll dig and dig as more gets posted on this. I should have this post filled up quite fast, I have material all over that I'm trying to condense. Keep in mind there are various strategical positioning you can have throughout your matches and how exactly you hold your lines throughout a GvG as well. All of this information will be more than likely covered as time goes on as well as lessons.
